Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is an American national off-price department store retailer, and a division of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation with 631 stores in 40 states and Puerto Rico, with its corporate headquarters located in Burlington Township, New Jersey.

In thesun newspaper, it was reported, "A former Burlington Coat Factory manager and five other Greater Lowell employees have been accused of milking the company for thousands of dollars with a fraud scheme that spanned four years. Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley’s office said a grand jury has indicted 52-year-old Richard Milot of Lowell for allegedly keeping former employees on the payroll and cashing their checks with forged signatures. He also allegedly padded five employees’ salaries with overtime they never worked. Milot managed the Burlington Coat Factory at the Billerica Mall on Boston Road. The fraud allegedly took place from 2001 to 2004. The scheme was discovered after Milot was transferred to another store in Worcester, Middlesex District Attorney spokeswoman Melissa Sherman said. A Middlesex grand jury charged Milot on June 27 with larceny over $250, eight counts of forgery, and eight counts of uttering false documents for cashing the checks of his former employees. Middlesex District Attorney spokeswoman Emily LaGrassa said she could not release the total amount of money stolen. The grand jury also indicted the following people on charges of receiving stolen property over $250: Jessica Azarowski, 28, of Lowell; Jason Frotten, 22, of Billerica; Michelle Frotten, 25, of Billerica; Chansophan Sim, 24, of Lowell; and Timothy Wiseheart, 22, of Tewksbury."

Assistant Store Manager of Operations (Former Employee) says

"Worked off the clock to accomplish tasks...no appreciation...almost expected...different rules for different stores in the district...Different rules for different employees...store manager had favorites..."

Receiving (Former Employee) says

"The managers do not care about you at all. They only care about themselves and sitting in the office playing on their phones. They do not help with anything. They try and make you stay later than your scheduled by changing your schedule the day you work and saying it’s been like that. Over all just not a good company to work for at all. Too much stress for the very little pay and no benefits"

I work the floor and hang clothes...some register (Former Employee) says

"when u first walk into the store you get the feeling of poor, desperate, frazzled atmosphere. The location is remote and they wonder why there's so much petty crime! A poorer echelon of customer frequents the place and makes every employee have the jitters and feel like you are pressured to 'appear' friendly and welcoming - but the behaviors of the so-called 'guests' belies that myth real fast. Like we're expected to appear to the customer as friendly, smiley, welcoming - but some 'customers' know how to play that fiddle real well. No mgmt support - negligible training - just feel like a fish dropped into a fishbowl - going around in circles, achieving nothing - especially with the lousy pay and unpredictable hours which are always changing.making (some) money - not enough to sustain....lousy hours/pay - u feel like ur working for a Veery poor, struggling operation."

Receiving Associate (Former Employee) says

"Manager multiple times has me work off the clock. No appreciation for back of house employees. Hours cut everyday. Luckily if you got 15 a week. Terrible environment"

Receiving Associate (Former Employee) says

"Always cutting hours, not enough money to sustain yourself, very little to no benefits, no advancement, no set schedule so you never know when you get out. Your supposed to leave in a certain time but then they “ask” you to stay longer, you don’t then they get mad.NoneHours always cut"

Cashier/Sales Associate (Former Employee) says

"This is a horrible place to work. I went from a grocery store to this and I’ve never regretted it more. It’s dry, it’s dirty, it’s old, it’s outdated. It is the most unprofessional place ever. The managers are terrible too. My breaking point was them saying the official schedule was up and set into the calendar. I had 3 days off, then I checked the schedule for my September... I had all 3 of those days in the week with hours set in WITHOUT my acknowledgement. I called the manager to ask why he had added these hours without my acknowledgement and he played dumb. He also expected me to come in as if it was the solution to this problem. They constantly under schedule and call their workers to come in early to help because there’s “no cashiers scheduled.” Honestly the worst part about their store is how broken and old their system is. The computers are ANCIENT which makes the process of being a cashier embarrassing and drawn out. Customers have to stand for 10+ minutes waiting for my system to boot back up sometimes. Also they don’t help their employees learn spanish for the customers that strictly speak it. They ignore the fact that i can not properly speak to more than half of my customers and nag and nag AND NAG about surveys being filled out and us getting the Burlington credit card sign ups. There’s so much wrong with this place. Needs to be shut down. NothingEverything"

Customer Service Supervisor (CSS) says

"The people i worked with were great just sometimes felt like management had their favorites and it could be told. You don’t get paid enough for what you do not deal with including supervisor positions and they don’t care about your family or home life. They expect you to have open availability and work different times every day and you never know what your schedule will be every week is different so making appointments is difficult unless you can give them 17 days notice. And if your lucky enough to get full time and insurance say goodbye to your paychecks because it’s way overpriced. Great co workersBenefits, management, corporate"

Loss Prevention Associate (Current Employee) says

"The worst place I've ever worked. They lied on the application to get you in the door. Job title is under "Loss Prevention". It has zero to do with Loss Prevention. They care more about wiping carts down than they do preventing store loss. Security is the sole people responsible for wiping down carts. There's only 1 loss prevention employee working at a time. They DO NOT set you up properly to succeed in this role. They constantly decrease your weekly hours with a notice. They have you in a role that would normally be reserved for CSR (Customer Service Rep). I habe NEVER EVER worked for such a nasty, non-caring place in my life. In my time there, about 2 months. I've seen more store thefts that I have in all my life. Being to passive is just as bad as being too aggressive. It show's that they will do nothing to stop loss or crime to an extent within the store. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND working for Burlington stores. An absolute waste of time! Nothing good to share but, weekly pay. Although, your check will be a joke as you don't work normal shift lengths. HORRIBLE PLACE, STAY AWAY!"

Full Time (Former Employee) says

"Part time gets no hours, full time is worked too hard because the few full time employees end up being the main employees scheduled. Pay is minimal, and the raise system is broken. The job itself is typical retail, but you're expected to cover the whole sales floor, and register at times.Good employee discountOverworked, underpaid"

Overnight Logistics (Former Employee) says

"Worked over night at jersey gardens in Elizabeth New Jersey talk about horrible and lazy ppl! Managment was terrible co workers frauds and poor work ethic!!! I hated every second of that position bathrooms are divulging and so Is the lunch room literally ate my food in the changing room Punching outThe staff and environment"

Sales Floor Associate (Current Employee) says

"This company is absolutely horrible the only good thing about it is that you’re paid weekly. There’s no growth unless you’re in a clique with management. Managers are unprofessional not only to employees but to customers as well. No value to workers who want do more and learn more. This company wants you to devote your entire being to it but not help you succeed and that is not okay. Weekly payShort breaks, No room for growth, Too clique orientated"

Receiving Associate (Former Employee) says

"They are not a good company to work for. They don't appreciate there employees. Low pay and treated unfairly. Took people that have worked for them out of there dept and cut there hours.Sometimes goid discountsThey dont care for or pay tgere employees fairly at all."

Cashier/Sales Associate (Former Employee) says

"I worked here as a teenager and my location was always really dirty. The management team was extremely unprofessional with staff and with customers. It was not inclusive to customers or staff and often racist. One of the worst work environments I have ever experienced."

Customer service supervisor (Former Employee) says

"Supervisors are rude and want you to do literally everything for little pay they overwork you and give you little to no hours just horrible place 2 goYou get store discountsHorrible supervisors and pay"

Cashier (Former Employee) says

"Burlington doesn't care about their employees. I was hired as a seasonal cashier, never missed a day of work yet the college student who was frequently late got hired on full-time and I was let go.Meet new peopleRude managers, racist"

Cashier (Current Employee) says

"When I first started, the management was decent and there were incentives. There were gift cards for opening credit cards and 30% discount a few times. Now, there is new management and it is insulting to say you work there. The new store manager is full of himself and promises. Not a day goes by that another person quits or doesn't show up to work including store manager. Slew of racist comments and harassment fly out of the store manager's mouth. The rare 30% discountBullying, disrespect, unprofessionalism, patronizing from store manager, theft, unsafe"

Store Associate (Former Employee) says

"Here at Burlington my supervisor would never give me a schedule to go over. She would literally just say “I’ll tell you when to come in.” And by the end of the day she’d be like “I need you here tomorrow at 4 am.” so I’d have to be here last minutes notice. You would never know when you would get off. Sometimes you’d get out at 12 pm or sometimes at 4 am. The amount of work vs pay is ridiculous. You’d get minimum wage for a ton of work.NoneNo schedule, Minimum wage, no recognition, Too much work for little pay, Employees talking behind your back everyday"

Only a body/Solo un cuerpo (Former Employee) says

"DOLPHIN MALL LOCATIONThey treat their employees like garbage, they expect you to be on call for 11 hours a day / 7 days with no guaranteed hours for a whopping $ 10 / hour. This is ABUSE !!Tratan a sus empleados como basura, esperan que esté de guardia durante 11 horas al día / 7 días sin horas garantizadas por la friolera de $ 10 / hora. ¡Esto es ABUSO!"

Recieving (Current Employee) says

"The ASM & Store manager don’t care about nothing or nobody except for looking good in front of DISTRICT. Working receiving was a nightmare always understaffed , they only care about the cashiers & FOH. I feel so bad for the new receiving manager, The store manager decided for employee appreciation week to buy some boneless chicken wings from B-DUBS, they were plain no sauce no napkins no condiments nothing They really don’t care about their employees but you do get paid weeklyWeekly checkThe whole establishment"

Unloader/Stocker (Former Employee) says

"I quite the second day it was the worst job i’ve ever worked for minimum wage you do a lot of work that goes unnoticed. The management was so bad, never had a schedule set no one else had one either they were called in everyday and asked to work overtime without being paid for it. only 15 minute breaks which almost all employees didn’t use because the manager was so on your butt about finishing work in hours that were just not possible. management"
