Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is an American national off-price department store retailer, and a division of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation with 631 stores in 40 states and Puerto Rico, with its corporate headquarters located in Burlington Township, New Jersey.
In thesun newspaper, it was reported, "A former Burlington Coat Factory manager and five other Greater Lowell employees have been accused of milking the company for thousands of dollars with a fraud scheme that spanned four years. Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley’s office said a grand jury has indicted 52-year-old Richard Milot of Lowell for allegedly keeping former employees on the payroll and cashing their checks with forged signatures. He also allegedly padded five employees’ salaries with overtime they never worked. Milot managed the Burlington Coat Factory at the Billerica Mall on Boston Road. The fraud allegedly took place from 2001 to 2004. The scheme was discovered after Milot was transferred to another store in Worcester, Middlesex District Attorney spokeswoman Melissa Sherman said. A Middlesex grand jury charged Milot on June 27 with larceny over $250, eight counts of forgery, and eight counts of uttering false documents for cashing the checks of his former employees. Middlesex District Attorney spokeswoman Emily LaGrassa said she could not release the total amount of money stolen. The grand jury also indicted the following people on charges of receiving stolen property over $250: Jessica Azarowski, 28, of Lowell; Jason Frotten, 22, of Billerica; Michelle Frotten, 25, of Billerica; Chansophan Sim, 24, of Lowell; and Timothy Wiseheart, 22, of Tewksbury."

I work the floor and hang clothes...some register (Former Employee) says"when u first walk into the store you get the feeling of poor, desperate, frazzled atmosphere. The location is remote and they wonder why there's so much petty crime! A poorer echelon of customer frequents the place and makes every employee have the jitters and feel like you are pressured to 'appear' friendly and welcoming - but the behaviors of the so-called 'guests' belies that myth real fast. Like we're expected to appear to the customer as friendly, smiley, welcoming - but some 'customers' know how to play that fiddle real well. No mgmt support - negligible training - just feel like a fish dropped into a fishbowl - going around in circles, achieving nothing - especially with the lousy pay and unpredictable hours which are always changing.making (some) money - not enough to sustain....lousy hours/pay - u feel like ur working for a Veery poor, struggling operation."

Cashier/Sales Associate (Former Employee) says"This is a horrible place to work. I went from a grocery store to this and I’ve never regretted it more. It’s dry, it’s dirty, it’s old, it’s outdated. It is the most unprofessional place ever. The managers are terrible too. My breaking point was them saying the official schedule was up and set into the calendar. I had 3 days off, then I checked the schedule for my September... I had all 3 of those days in the week with hours set in WITHOUT my acknowledgement. I called the manager to ask why he had added these hours without my acknowledgement and he played dumb. He also expected me to come in as if it was the solution to this problem. They constantly under schedule and call their workers to come in early to help because there’s “no cashiers scheduled.” Honestly the worst part about their store is how broken and old their system is. The computers are ANCIENT which makes the process of being a cashier embarrassing and drawn out. Customers have to stand for 10+ minutes waiting for my system to boot back up sometimes. Also they don’t help their employees learn spanish for the customers that strictly speak it. They ignore the fact that i can not properly speak to more than half of my customers and nag and nag AND NAG about surveys being filled out and us getting the Burlington credit card sign ups. There’s so much wrong with this place. Needs to be shut down. NothingEverything"
Customer Service Supervisor (CSS) says"The people i worked with were great just sometimes felt like management had their favorites and it could be told. You don’t get paid enough for what you do not deal with including supervisor positions and they don’t care about your family or home life. They expect you to have open availability and work different times every day and you never know what your schedule will be every week is different so making appointments is difficult unless you can give them 17 days notice. And if your lucky enough to get full time and insurance say goodbye to your paychecks because it’s way overpriced. Great co workersBenefits, management, corporate"
Loss Prevention Associate (Current Employee) says"The worst place I've ever worked. They lied on the application to get you in the door. Job title is under "Loss Prevention". It has zero to do with Loss Prevention. They care more about wiping carts down than they do preventing store loss. Security is the sole people responsible for wiping down carts. There's only 1 loss prevention employee working at a time. They DO NOT set you up properly to succeed in this role. They constantly decrease your weekly hours with a notice. They have you in a role that would normally be reserved for CSR (Customer Service Rep). I habe NEVER EVER worked for such a nasty, non-caring place in my life. In my time there, about 2 months. I've seen more store thefts that I have in all my life. Being to passive is just as bad as being too aggressive. It show's that they will do nothing to stop loss or crime to an extent within the store. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND working for Burlington stores. An absolute waste of time! Nothing good to share but, weekly pay. Although, your check will be a joke as you don't work normal shift lengths. HORRIBLE PLACE, STAY AWAY!"

She would literally just say “I’ll tell you when to come in.” And by the end of the day she’d be like “I need you here tomorrow at 4 am.” so I’d have to be here last minutes notice. You would never know when you would get off. Sometimes you’d get out at 12 pm or sometimes at 4 am. The amount of work vs pay is ridiculous.
